Acting and Creative Movement

K – 2nd Grades

In this class, young actors will use their voices, bodies, and imaginations as tools to create new characters, atmospheres, and follow a narrative. With exercises and activities rooted in creative play and inspired by poetry & stories, students will gain confidence, sensory awareness, focus, improvisational skills, and the ability to collaborate within a group. At the end of the semester there will be an informal showcase for friends and family to share what we have learned!

Musical Theatre Movement & Dance

Intro to Musical Theatre

1st – 4th Grades

This lively and engaging class is designed for young performers who are eager to explore the world of musical theatre! Students will dive into the basics of singing, dancing, and acting as they learn how to bring a story to life through music and movement. Whether they’re belting out show tunes, learning simple choreography, or practicing fun character work, this class encourages creativity, teamwork, and confidence. These young artists will have the chance to explore age-appropriate musical theatre songs, practicing vocal techniques, pitch, and rhythm, learn simple, energetic dance routines to get their bodies moving while reinforcing musicality and coordination. At the end of the session, students will showcase their new skills in a
showcase for family and friends, demonstrating the combination of singing, dancing, and acting they’ve learned. This class emphasizes the joy of performance and self-expression, helping young students build confidence, develop social skills, and gain a deeper appreciation for the art of musical theatre.

Rising Stars Theatre Dance

1st – 4th Grades

Step into the spotlight and let your talent shine in our Rising Stars Musical Theatre Dance Class, designed especially for 1st to 4th graders who are ready to unleash their inner performers! This dynamic and engaging class invites young dancers to explore the magical world of musical theatre through the joy of movement, rhythm, and expression. Students will explore a variety of dance styles commonly found in musical theatre, including Broadway jazz, character dance, and choreography inspired by popular musicals, allowing students to broaden their dance vocabulary and versatility. Students will gain confidence and poise as they learn to command the stage, project their personalities, and captivate audiences with their charisma and charm. With a new curriculum every semester, this class can and should be taken multiple times!

Musical Theatre

3rd-5th Grades

Step into the spotlight! In this dynamic and fun-filled class, students in grades 3-5 will dive into the world of musical theatre by exploring singing, dancing, and acting—all while learning how to work as a team to bring stories to life on stage. Through a combination of vocal exercises, choreography, and character development, students will discover the magic of musical theatre while building confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills. Throughout the course, students will explore classic Broadway songs, learn how to express emotions through music and movement, and develop the fundamental skills needed for a strong musical performance. Each student will have the opportunity to shine through group numbers, solos, and acting scenes, all while fostering a supportive and encouraging environment where everyone’s voice is heard. By the end of the class, students will not only have a solid foundation in musical theatre performance but will also be ready to perform in a mini musical showcase, showing off everything they’ve learned in a fun, interactive performance for family and friends! With new curriculum each semester, this class can and should be taken multiple times!

Intro to Acting

3rd-5th Grades

This fun and dynamic acting class is designed for students in grades 3-5 who are ready to explore the world of performance and storytelling. Through engaging games, improvisation, and scene work, students will develop confidence, creativity, and communication skills while learning
the fundamentals of acting. In this class, students will: Learn how to build a character through physicality, voice, and imagination. Students will discover how to portray different emotions and scenarios, bringing stories to life. Focus on key acting techniques, including voice projection,
body language, timing, and expression. Students will practice listening and reacting to their fellow performers to build strong on-stage chemistry. Participate in improvisational games that foster creativity and quick thinking. Students will learn to react spontaneously and confidently in unscripted moments. Work in small groups and pairs to create short scenes, learning the importance of teamwork, respect, and collaboration in theater. Rehearse and perform a short skit or scene for family and friends at the end of the session, showcasing the students’ growth and newfound skills. Whether your child dreams of being on stage or simply loves to act, this class provides a supportive environment for them to develop their talents, gain confidence, and have a great time with friends. Intermediate Musical Theatre

4th-6th Grades

Get ready to dive into the zany world of Bikini Bottom with this 12-week intermediate-level musical theatre class for students in grades 4-6! In this high-energy, creative course, students will bring the vibrant, fun-filled world of *SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical* to
life through acting, singing, and dancing. Over the course of 12 weeks, students will work together to create a musical revue of this hit Broadway show, learning key musical numbers, character portrayals, and choreography along the way. From the determined SpongeBob to the sassy Sandy Cheeks and the lovable yet grumpy Squidward, students will develop their skills in character work, vocal technique, and ensemble performance. The course will emphasize teamwork, self-confidence, and stage presence while nurturing each child’s unique talents. Students will also gain experience in staging, costuming, and preparing for a live performance, culminating in a final revue showcasing their hard work and creativity. The class will culminate in
a high-energy revue, where students will perform their favorite musical numbers from *SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical* in front of an audience. This class is designed for students with some prior musical theatre experience or a strong interest in performing. Join us for an unforgettable journey to Bikini Bottom, where laughter, music, and adventure await!

Building Your Musical Theatre Audition Book

4th-7th Grade

Do you dream of landing a lead role in your school musical or community theatre production? In our Building Your Musical Theatre Audition Book, students in grades 4-7 will learn how to select, prepare, and organize their very own audition book—a personalized collection of songs and monologues that will impress any audition panel. Throughout this class, young performers will learn how to choose the right audition material: From Broadway classics to contemporary hits, students will discover how to pick songs and monologues that showcase their vocal range, acting skills, and personality. We’ll focus on age-appropriate material that helps students shine while staying true to their abilities. Students will receive tips and tricks for auditioning confidently, such as how to convey emotion through voice and body language, and how to engage an audience even when auditioning for a small panel. By the end of the class, students will have a variety of audition pieces to choose from, whether it’s a comedic song, a heartfelt ballad, or a
powerful monologue. They’ll be prepared for any audition opportunity that comes their way! Auditioning can be nerve-wracking, but in this class, students will practice performing in a supportive and encouraging environment, gaining confidence and poise along the way. This fun, interactive class is perfect for students eager to learn more about musical theatre, improve their performance skills, and develop an audition book that will help them stand out in any audition setting.

Musical Theatre Ensemble

6th – 8th Grades

Calling all aspiring performers in 6th to 8th grade! Join us for an exhilarating journey into the world of musical theatre in our Musical Theatre Ensemble & Audition Techniques class. Designed to cultivate both artistic excellence and audition preparedness, this course offers
young performers a comprehensive and immersive experience that combines ensemble collaboration, individual skill-building, and audition strategy. Expand on principles of vocal technique, reading music, knowledge of Broadway repertoire, expression of character through movement, and learn how to elevate performances by making specific and unique choices on stage. Students will also work to master the art of auditioning with confidence and poise. Receive valuable guidance on selecting audition material, preparing songs, and showcasing your unique talents effectively in auditions. Through group rehearsals and ensemble exercises, students will develop teamwork, stage presence, and the ability to work harmoniously with fellow performers to create captivating theatrical experiences

Preparing for Pre Pro

7th-11th Grades

Are you ready to take your performing arts skills to the next level? Our *Preparing for Pre-Pro* class is designed to help students in grades 7 through 10 refine their craft and build the confidence needed to audition for our Pre-Professional Company. Under the guidance of our experienced teaching artists, students will receive personalized instruction and feedback to best prepare for the competitive Pre-Pro audition process.

This comprehensive course covers three key components of the Pre-Pro audition:
● Dance Call – Get moving and groove with tailored choreography that will challenge your coordination, rhythm, and ability to perform in front of an audience. Through focused technique training, you’ll learn how to approach a dance call with confidence and poise.
● Monologue – Craft and refine a one-minute monologue that highlights your acting range and emotional depth. Instructors will guide you through character development, line delivery, and stage presence, ensuring you stand out in this critical part of the audition.
● Vocal Performance – Choose a one-minute song that showcases your vocal abilities, whether you’re a seasoned singer or just starting to develop your voice. With vocal warm-ups, performance techniques, and individual coaching, you’ll learn how to project your voice, express emotion, and captivate the audition panel.

Throughout the course, students will work closely with our professional teaching artists in a supportive, collaborative environment. By the end of the class, you’ll have the tools and the confidence to give your best audition yet, whether you’re preparing for the Pre-Pro Company or any other professional opportunities ahead. Stage Combat for Young Artists

Age Range: 12+

Unleash your inner warrior and learn the art of safe and dynamic stage combat in this exciting and empowering class designed specifically for young artists! Whether you’re interested in theatre, film, or performance arts, this class will teach you the fundamental techniques and principles of stage combat while fostering a fun and supportive environment. In this hands-on course, students will explore how to perform believable fight choreography with precision, control, and confidence. They will learn various combat styles, from unarmed techniques (slaps, punches, falls, and rolls) to the use of weapons (swordplay, staffs, and knives). Key focus will be placed on safety, communication, and teamwork, ensuring that each combatant is able to
execute intense fight scenes with authenticity and minimal risk of injury. The course will also delve into important aspects of character development, allowing students to infuse their combat scenes with emotion and storytelling. With a blend of physical training, creative expression, and ensemble work, this class offers a unique opportunity for young artists to develop both their performance skills and their physical confidence. Whether you’re preparing for a role, looking to enhance your stage presence, or simply interested in exploring the world of stage combat, this class will provide a strong foundation for your creative growth. By the end of the course, students will have mastered a series of fight sequences and gained valuable experience working with a partner in choreographed combat scenes.

Adult Acting – Please note this class is now on a waitlist!

Age Range: 16+

This acting class will help actors get out of their heads and into their impulses. Using a mixture of improvisation, physical theatre, voice techniques and traditional scene study, students will gain greater access to their impulses and instincts, enabling them to make bold and interesting choices with minimal preparation. We will work primarily with script in hand, which means almost no time needs to be spent memorizing or rehearsing outside the classroom. This better prepares the students for cold read scenarios, and it also works against some of the bad habits that develop from over preparation. This style of teaching leads to incredible breakthroughs, helping students become not only better actors, but better human beings, all through the process of radical self acceptance and expression.

Adult Dance Techniques

Age Range: 16+

This dynamic and high-energy Adult Intermediate Dance Class is designed for dancers who have a solid foundation in technique and are looking to expand their skills across a variety of styles. Each class will challenge you to refine your technique, improve your performance quality, and explore the artistic expression inherent in each genre. Throughout the course, students will delve into an exciting mix of Musical Theatre, Jazz, Contemporary, and other modern dance styles. Expect to work on everything from sharp jazz turns and leaps to fluid contemporary movements, all while embracing the storytelling elements of movement. Whether you’re passionate about telling a story through dance, perfecting your technique, or looking to grow more confidently as a performer, this class offers a comprehensive and supportive environment for intermediate dancers to continue to grow. Expect to be challenged, inspired, and encouraged every step of the way. Come ready to move, learn, and have fun!
