Argenta Contemporary Theatre and the Arkansas Repertory Theatre proudly partner to offer

Pre-Professional Program

A collaborative performer training program for 8th-12th grade students

Pre-Professional Program (“Pre-Pro”) is Argenta Contemporary Theatre and the Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s audition-only performance class featuring the top high school-aged singers, dancers, and actors in the area. This small company of pre-professional performers will meet weekly for advanced training and rehearsals. Throughout the duration of the course, students will explore challenging musical theatre solo/ensemble repertoire, advanced scene work, the business of the industry, audition and college prep, TV/film acting, and host special masterclasses featuring guest artists from the entertainment industry.

Pre Pro company members will be cast in Argenta Contemporary Theatre’s summer mainstage production of Grease: The Musical (July 24th-Aug 4th, 2024). All students in the Pre-Pro Company will be cast. However, the production will require further auditions for specific roles. Note: while encouraged, participation in the production is not required to participate in the spring course.

In addition to ACT’s production opportunity, and in tandem with the partnership with the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, there will also be multiple opportunities for students to participate in The Rep’s 2024 SummerStage Season. This includes being invited to audition for the season, opportunities for backstage/creative team assistance, sitting in on rehearsals, workshops, and more.
