Argenta Contemporary Theatre Education Coordinator

The Education Coordinator is responsible for operational management of the Benson McAdams Argenta Contemporary Theatre Academy throughout the programming of classes/camps. This role also involves providing support to other members of the ACT staff and ACT Educational team, including teaching artists, as and when required. This individual reports directly to the Director of Education. This is a part-time position, primarily working afternoons and evenings with a pay of up to $15/hour.

General Duties and Key Responsibilities:

● Represent ACT publicly as required

● Work closely with Director of Education and Associate Director of Education and instructors to create monthly calendars showing class schedules, daily activities and events

● Serve as a keyholder for the Benson McAdams Argenta Contemporary Theatre Academy and responsible for checking students in/out of the building safely, and providing administrative support where appropriate

● Serve as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries regarding ACT’s educational programs

● Communicate with students and/or their legal guardians via phone, in person, and/or email

regarding educational programs ie: registration, payment plans, scholarships,

class schedules, etc.

● Maintain an awareness of relevant legislative requirements including health and

safety, safeguarding of children and adults and providing equal learning

opportunities for all

● Fill in as substitute instructor or assistant teacher if/when necessary

● Assist in maintaining excellent working relationships with all relevant

stakeholders including instructors, students, and partners, ensuring that ACT is represented positively at all times

● Assist in ensuring that relevant projects are delivered with the highest standards

to ensure the strongest possible outcomes for participants

● Assist in creating program curriculum

● Assist with and manage departmental tasks as needed

● Follow guidelines, procedures and policies provided by ACT

● Be aware of, and comply with, rules and legislation pertaining to health and

safety in the workplace

General Person Specification

● 1-3 years experience in a professional setting

● Project management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project

environment

Master Carpenter

Job Description: The Master Carpenter is an integral part of the production team. The Master Carpenter is responsible for the safe and accurate construction, rigging, and installation of a production’s scenery. The Master Carpenter will, in conjunction with the Technical Director, supervise a team of carpenters and technicians to build and execute the vision of the scenic designer.

Skills/Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre required with a minimum 2 years’ experience working in theatrical scene shops or similar related experience. • Knowledge of a wide variety of construction materials and methods used to construct theatrical scenery. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. • Excellent teamwork and communication skills. • Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges in a group setting. • Excellent organizational skills. • Familiarity with G Suite. • Must be able to lift 50lbs. • Valid driver’s license. • Must be able to pass a background check.

About Us: The Argenta Contemporary Theatre is a vibrant theatre in the heart of North Little Rock’s historic Argenta Arts District. ACT produces five mainstage productions per season, with one educational Jr.-style production, and two second-stage productions at satellite facilities. This is a salaried position with a base pay of $36,000/year with full benefits, PTO, sick leave, and a relocation package of up to $1,500 for qualified candidates.
